Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park

The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park Memorial is located on the grounds of the Sinking Spring Farm in Hodgenville. It was founded in 1916 and commemorates Abraham Lincoln, who was born here. The National Historical Park includes the Memorial Building and the hut in which the Lincoln natives lived for a number of years. The “Memorial Building” houses a reconstruction of the log cabin in which Lincoln was born. It also impresses with its elaborate neoclassical architecture.

Adsmore

The Adsmore is an open air museum in Princeton and the only one of its kind in the state. Adsmore was originally the Greek Revival style residence of the merchant John Higgins. Over the years the property changed hands frequently. The last owner finally bequeathed her estate to the “George Coon Public Library”. The house was converted into a public museum in 1986 and all furniture was extensively restored. The museum complex now includes the house itself, a souvenir shop, a log cabin and an armory from 1840.

Augusta’s Historic Jail

The Augusta Jail was founded in 1811, making it the oldest prison in the state of Kentucky. The prisoners’ cells are located on the first floor and have been extensively restored and are now open to the public. The guards’ living rooms, which can also be visited, are located on the second floor. Visitors can decide whether they want to explore the historic prison on their own or during a guided tour. Aviation Museum of Kentucky

The Aviation Museum of Kentucky is an aircraft museum on the grounds of Blue Grass Airport in Lexington. It was opened in 1995 and offers many exhibitions, a library and a workshop on an area of ​​1,100 m². Here you can see historical and modern airplanes, photographs, documents and equipment. Many of the exhibits are owned by members of the Kentucky Aviation History Roundtable.

The Bluegrass Heritage Museum is a local history museum in Winchester. Butler-Turpin House State Historic House

The Butlers were one of the most respected military families. To the east of the “Butler-Turpin House” is the restored “Butler Family Cemetery”, the family grave.
